NEW YORK/UPSTATE

NEW YORK/UPSTATE

Well you have heard me talk about the City.  However New York is not just skyscrapers and wall to wall people.  You have Upstate New York.  Upstate New York has Mountains and Lakes and Resorts and is the place the folks from the City go to get away from the city.

You have heard of Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains....the 1980 Winter Olympics were held here.  Yes it can get very snowy white in the mountains.  Great for those who love to ski.  The Adirondacks are just one range.  They also have the Catskills.  They also have the Finger Lakes....and you can find a fabulous resort or maybe a B & B is more your style.  They have plenty to choose from.

While visiting the mountains and lakes in the summer is great fun.  What will take your breath away is the fall foliage.

October....closing in on Halloween.  You can pick pumpkins and you can pick apples right off the trees.  Nothing says fresh like apples you just picked.  Rent a car and take some of the back roads around these small quaint towns.  Roadside produce stands and more.  However, here is my tip of the day.  When  you go pick your apples...make sure you grab a cider donut!  Yumm, Yumm.

If skiing is your thing there are many ski resorts and great slopes you can slalom on.

New York State is so well rounded.  From the City, to the boroughs, to the Upstate region New York is packed full of fun and excitement all year round!

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

NEW YORK CITY......

Also know at Manhattan.  But if you are from New York....you just say...I am going to the City.  That says it all.

You have heard the song..."New York New York that toddling town...the Bronx is up and the Battery's down...people ride in a hole in the ground".   Well that gives you the lay of the land.

The City...it's a magical place filled with excitement and people just moving in every direction.  You can easily travel on the subway.  It's an inexpensive way to get around not only Manhattan but Brooklyn and Queens.

Traveling to New York you definitely would want to take in a Broadway Play.  If you can't do Broadway...there are many great plays that are Off Broadway....a little unknown play that got its start Off Broadway....GREASE!  Yes I am dating myself here.  But it just goes to show what you can find Off Broadway...maybe the next big show!

Not into Broadway.... visit one of the many Museums.  American Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art,  and The  Guggenheim Museum.  These are only a few.  Want to see some history.  Travel over to the New York City Public Library....

St. Patrick's Cathedral is a site to see whether you are Catholic or not .

Can you tell I get excited about New York City.

Radio City Music Hall comes alive during the Holiday season and is home of the famous Rockettes!

You also have Zoos....Central Park Zoo, which is in the heart of Central Park.  You can go up to the Bronx and visit The Bronx Zoo....so much to do...

Also bring your appetite.  Food, Food, and more Food in New York.  No matter what type of food you are looking for, you can more than likely find it in New York City.  Don't worry about walking with your food.  Grab a slice (pizza) and keep on going!

Remember when traveling to New York in the Winter it can be very cold and very wet.  You can also run into a warm snap so pack accordingly.

You have heard about Long Island.  Well Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk  are all on Long Island.  Long Island Sound.  Way out on the Island you have heard of the Hamptons.  Great Beach town, Million Dollar Mansions and beautiful.

I recommend that if you are going to New York...take time to take in the boroughs and enjoy all the different things that come along with it....

Want to stay in the Heart of the City.  Hotels can be costly based on your needs.  However you can find some great deals if you are willing to look for it.

FLORIDA...Or Do You Really Know It?

FLORIDA

It's not just Theme Parks.  Florida is a Magical Place and I don't mean the Magic of Disney.   First off, Florida is a peninsula and that means we are surrounded by water on three sides!   That means....A lot of BEACHES! If you can't find a beach here, then you don't want to go to the beach!
My favorite Beaches are on the West Coast of Florida.  These are the ones on the Gulf of Mexico side.  You will have to come down a few times and check out a few different locations to get your favorite...some people can never make up their mind and just mix it up.  One of the World's Most Famous Beach is...you know this!...Daytona Beach!  Yes you can right now still drive right on the beach.  It is wonderful! Now for you Nascar Fans..."Start your Engines". Daytona International is right down the road!  Did you know my
co-host Jay Lawrence loves the Speedway...We even went there  "Off The Beaten Path" check it out!

Now take a trip way south...past Miami...and you have reached the Florida Keys!  These are a chain of small islands at the very tip of Florida.  The water is crystal clear blue. Fishing is awesome and the partying never stops.  But throw your inhibitions away if you come for Fantasyfest...it makes Mardis Gras look tame.

If you like the went lands...take an airboat around the Everglades...just remember to keep this in mind.  There is a reason they call it wild life...no touching, feeding or anything else other than picture taking of the local wild residents...yes if there is a body of water in Florida...like Lake County home of more than 1000 lakes, more than likely there will be a gator in it.

So when it comes to fun in the sun and surf...think Florida....
You will never want to leave.

Florida You All Know It

FLORIDA...

Well what can I say about the State I live in.....but WOW!
I might as well let you know that I do love the theme parks...and of course Disney World is top position as my go to park.  If you haven't ever gone to Disney World, you may want to put it on your bucket list.  They have 4 parks, 2 water parks and a special Downtown Disney area and more hotels to suit everyone's budget and needs.  Jay and I even went "Off the Beaten Path" when they gave us a sneak preview of the new Fantasyland.  Just remember when you go..."It was all started by a mouse" (Walt Disney)

Now we also have Universal Studios.  It is a strong contender against Disney, but what's a little friendly competition among friends....Universal you can ride the movies and with all the new Harry Potter rides and features you will be in Hogwarts Heaven.

Florida is so packed full of fun you will want to keep coming back to see more and more...but remember it's our little secret!

Now if you want to see more parks...we have Sea World and Busch Gardens.  I have been to both of them. They are great fun and when you throw in lots of fun animals and sea life they kids will have a ball!

So you can see Florida has the theme parks you adore.
However, keep in mind the seasons and the temperatures.
During the summer it can be hot and humid and raining.  Most of major theme parks do not close in the rain...just throw on your rain gear...(I recommend ponchos) and keep right on riding those rides! Please keep hydrated.  Now the winter, temperatures during the day can reach into the 70's, but at night it can dip into the 40's and 50's! So make sure you pack a sweater!

Don't forget if you want more information on planning your trip...contact me Zee at Zee Michaelson Travel and I will see YOU at the parks!
